Anyways, they are pretty cool to me.
Has it really been since May that I posted a blog?!?!? Wow...
I'm currently at work, but since there are no kids in at the moment (actually for the past 5 hours I've been here there have been no children) I've decided to post something.
What have I been up to? Nothing much. I haven't done anything really interesting besides work, which isn't so bad. I've been doing loads of art projects with the kids and basically just playing with them. I get paid to be a kid again, so that is not bad at all.
I'm just about to get started on my final project for my Intro to Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign class. I'm excited because I finally got inspiration. Part of me was really glad that the lab tech screwed up my right arm towards the end of the school year, because it bought me a whole lot of time with this project. I would have failed epically had I had to come up with something then. The project consist of creating some sort of booklet about the artist that we chose to do for our artist research paper. I got Gail Anderson, who is the senior creative director at SpotCo. She worked on the posters (particularly the type) on one of my favorite musicals "Avenue Q," and worked at Rolling Stone magazine. See the thing about Gail, is that she likes to keep a low profile, so doing a research report on her was very difficult to do. Being that I never really worked with type before, coming up with a project that would not only showcase what she does and her significance in the graphic design industry, but also her coming up with a mock up of something that she would do was pretty difficult for me to come up with ideas. However, this summer I stroke of inspiration has hit me. I'll will be doing a "magazine" type booklet complete with article profiling her, a diagram disecting one or two of her works for image analysis, a timeline of some sort, and faux ad for a broadway or off broadway play using her style of "non-fonts" (instead of using regular type, she has often used antlers, her hair, bottle caps, and other items and manipulate them to create fonts for her posters). I'm excited to do this project, but a bit apprehensive about it because I'll have to figure out when I have time to go on campus to use CS4 since I don't have the programs at home. But never the less, I am optimistic about the project. I have until about the second week in September to get it turned into to my prof.
There have been some family drama, which resulted in my aunt and her boyfriend getting kicked out of our house and basically being kicked out from the family. Her constant lying, manipulating, and begging just got to the best of us and she needed to go anyways because that was what was agreed upon anyways. She thought she could make herself and her boyfriend at home for the next couple of years with us, and that was a no go.
Well, now a kid has came in so I have to go. I hope to post again soon ^_^
